Meet The Grove host

The Grove is hosted by Rachel A. Larimore, Ph.D., an author, speaker, and scholar, and Chief Visionary of Samara Early Learning. The Grove is a service of Samara Early Learning, a business focused on helping educators start nature-based schools or add the nature-based approach to their existing program.

Rachel is the author of three books including Establishing a Nature-Based Preschool and Preschool Beyond Walls: Blending Early Childhood Education and Nature-Based Learning. Her passion, expertise, and work focuses on the integration of nature into early childhood education for young children’s whole development.

Prior to establishing Samara Early Learning, Rachel founded one of the nation’s earliest nature-based preschools in mid-Michigan along with leading the creation of a partnership with the local school district to create a nature-based kindergarten and first grade within the public school system.

Rachel earned her Doctorate in Curriculum, Instruction, and Teacher Education from Michigan State University, where her research focuses on nature-based early childhood education. She also serves on the advisory board of the Natural Start Alliance.
